Swish - Swap Don't Shop!

Waste Education alongside the Project Team are running a Swish event in Whitehill Service Centre

A swish is an event where people swap clothes, shoes and accessories that they no longer want in exchange for 'new to them' items. The idea is, bring in 'old' items and swap them for the same amount of 'new' items.

Approximately 10,000 tonnes of waste clothing was generated in Scotland in 2017 and events such as this would be useful in reducing this waste. Our previous Swish event in the building diverted 114.3kg of textiles form landfill.

Event Date

  • 25 April 2019

Event Times

  • 10am and 2pm  - 1st floor soft seating area

What to Swap

For this event we are only looking for adults clothes and it is important that items are in good, clean condition and ready to be worn again - not tired and past it!

Clothes such as:

  • Tops / Blouses / Shirts
  • Trousers / Jeans / Shorts (depending on season)
  • Skirts / Dresses
  • Jumpers / Cardigans
  • Jackets / Coats
  • Evening Wear

Accessories such as:

  • Handbags
  • Scarves / Shawls
  • Belts
  • Hats
  • Jewellery (no pierced jewellery)
  • Shoes / Boots

No swimwear or undies please!

Clothes Drop

Clothes should be brought in and handed to the Waste Education team (1st floor office beside the kitchen) anytime before the event.

Costs

Use the clothes you bring in as currency to swap for something 'new to you'. If you don't have anything to swap, we would ask for a  £1 minimum donation per item taken. All proceeds will go towards our 2019 Operational Services charity Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland.

Any donations of hangers, standing mirrors or clothes rails would be gratefully received.
