Lone Worker

Working alone is not in itself against the law and it will often be safe to do so. However, the law requires managers to consider carefully, and then deal with, any health and safety risks for people working alone.

Health Consideration - Heart Pacemaker

Please Note: if a lone worker uses a heart pacemaker the SOS Fob should not be worn around the neck as this may interfere with the smooth operation of the pacemaker. Guidance was sought from the device suppliers who have stated that the devices, similar to items such as mobile phones, should not be placed, worn or used around the area of the heart.

There are alternative solutions available which can be obtained for the lone working device, other than the lanyard. Alternative items such as a wrist band or belt clip can be ordered by line managers through the online portal and paid for via the raising of a Pecos order to Lone Worker Solutions.
